Guastalla Castelli Ducato

Guastalla enters the Castelli del Ducato circuit

From January Guastalla enters the Castelli del Ducato circuit: with the entry of the Reggio municipality on the Po the “Duchy of Parma, Piacenza and Guastalla” is reborn and touristically completed.

Hints of history …

It all began with the Treaty of Fontainebleau on 11 April 1814, ratified by the Congress of Vienna in 1815, by a woman, Maria Luisa of Habsburg-Lorraine, known as the Empress Marie Louise of Austria, wife of Napoleon Bonaparte, Duchess of Parma, Piacenza and Guastalla.

207 years later, in 2021, that Duchy was reborn under the tourist-cultural-food and wine profile thanks to the entry of the Municipality of Guastalla, an important administration in the Reggio Emilia area.

The words of the Mayor

We quote the words of the Mayor Camilla Verona: “It is with pride that we enter as the Municipality of Guastalla in this prestigious historical-tourist circuit, we feel in” family “as historically the belonging of Guastalla to these territories has had its weight; border area fortified city close to the river, it will be a moment of great satisfaction for us to work with the Castelli del Ducato ”.

Our views

We are very happy with the new entry of the Reggio town within the prestigious Circuit of the Castles of the Duchy because we believe Guastalla is splendid and with numerous visiting opportunities:

cultural sites with the fascinating Palazzo Ducale
food and wine with the excellences and the tasty typical riparian delicacies of the Po
naturalistic with the Po and the many activities to be done such as cycling,

In addition, the network of the Circuito dei Castelli del Ducato is expanding again because from Emilia it reaches Pontremoli in Tuscany.

A nice close collaboration in complicated times but which has borne good results for the benefit of every traveler and the territory.

As always, we are there to join in this valuable work.

Any major reference can be found, as always, on the Castelli del Ducato website.
